There's no universal answer to how often a commercial space needs cleaning. But there is a right way to work it out. Frequency follows four drivers: traffic, hygiene expectations, trading hours, and the presentation standard the business trades on.
The four drivers
Traffic wears a site. More people, more frequent service. Hygiene expectations get set by what happens in the space. A treatment room and a storeroom are not the same problem. Trading hours decide when cleaning can happen and how much accumulates between services. Presentation standard is commercial. A showroom sells on its floor in a way a depot doesn't.
Typical patterns by facility type
Offices usually run daily to three times per week by headcount. Medical and allied health usually run daily after the last patient. Childcare centres usually run daily after close, with deep cleans in closure weeks. Gyms usually run daily at minimum, split across the day at busy sites. Retail usually runs daily before open. Hospitality usually runs nightly. Warehouse amenities usually run daily or each shift day, with floor scrubs on their own cycle. These are patterns, not rules. The walkthrough decides.
Every-service areas
Whatever the overall frequency, some areas get serviced every visit. Bathrooms, kitchens, and touchpoints. Reducing frequency should never mean these rotate.
Periodic works run on their own cycle
Carpet extraction, window cleaning, strip and seal, and high dusting run quarterly to annually depending on the site. Scheduled in advance, not remembered in arrears.
Right-size instead of guessing
The honest way to set frequency is to walk the site, set a starting pattern from the drivers above, then adjust from audit results and what the site actually shows between services.
The right frequency for your site comes out of a walkthrough. Request one.
